Security

Internet Security is one of those terms that conjures up mental pictures of blue suits, badges, computer geeks hovered over by “guards”, secure rooms, etc. I’m sure most folks reading this know what I mean. A few years ago that was the picture I carried in my head about security and is the picture many folks I deal with these days have in their mind. Or security is a software firewall with numerous intrusion alert logs causing users to think they are being hacked all day and freak out not knowing what to do.

Exposure is what modified my mental image of the industry and the folks who work in it. Exposure to information, opinions and tools. It also clarified my perception of what was necessary to keep my personal computer safe. In these pages I attempt to integrate information, opinion and tools specifically for folks who are new or relatively new to Internet security and need a place to start.
